Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution — Henry Bryant Bigelow Medal
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution established the Henry Bryant Bigelow Medal in 1960, in honor of Institution's first Director, Harvard biologist Henry Bryant Bigelow, The award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the oceanographic sciences and "to those who make significant inquiries into the phenomena of the sea."
