AWARDS AND HONORSAcoustical Society of America — Honorary FellowOrganized in 1929, the Acoustical Society of America has achieved worldwide preeminence in the field of acoustics. The ASA awards honorary fellowships to "a person who has attained eminence in acoustics or who has rendered outstanding service to acoustics." Only 17 honorary fellows have been named since ASA was founded in 1929. That year, legendary American inventor Thomas A. Edison was named the society's first honorary fellow.
