Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) — Cozzarelli Prize
The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) is the official journal of the United States National Academy of Sciences. PNAS printed its first issue in 1915 and continues to publish cutting-edge research reports. In 2005, PNAS established the annual Paper of the Year Prize to recognize recently published PNAS articles of scientific excellence and originality. The award was renamed in 2006, to honor the late Editor-in-Chief of PNAS, Nick Cozzarelli. The lab motto of Nick Cozzarelli, was "Blast ahead," as he encouraged researchers to push the envelope of discovery. Papers receiving the Cozzarelli Prize are chosen from the thousands of research articles published in PNAS and represent the six broadly defined classes under which the National Academy of Sciences is organized.
