AWARDS AND HONORS
Over the years, many Scripps graduates have been honored with prestigious memberships and preeminent awards.
These accolades demonstrate the quality of our teaching program and the breadth of scientific research at our institution.
Our alumni are recipients of such awards as the Balzan Prize, the National Medal of Science, the Kyoto Prize, the
Vetlesen Prize, the Prince Albert Medal, and the Tyler Environmental prize.
Our alumni have also been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts &
Sciences, the American Association for the Advance of Science, the American Geophysical Union, and many others.
Selected awards and accomplishments are listed below. We recognize that this list is far from complete.
If your name, or that of a colleague is missing, or the year is marked incorrectly, please notify
Marcelle Hawkins at mjhawkins@ucsd.edu. We would appreciate your feedback
on other prizes, awards or organizations that could be included in future updates.
